check the plug too, my trimmer (not redmax) was bogging at high rpms, but it was running way too lean for emissions. I don't know if I ever downloaded and read one for this trimmer, so I'll have a look for sure. we had the same problem with two new (er) redmax trimmers at my old work.simpyl was the muffler. My Weed Eaters didn't have this trait that I recall.Īnd thanks for the link to the manual. I knew that small 4-cycle engines needed to run at their rated speed to keep the splash lube a'splashin', but didn't know that the 2-cycle really needed to spin also.
CLEAN EXHAUST PORT REDMAX TRIMMER FULL
I don't really care to have it running full bore all the time to trim a few dandelions against the fence here and there, and a few blades of Centipede that to get vertical. I only throttle it enough to trim the weeds. If it needs WOT all the time, that may be my problem. I was just guessing 40:1, it may be 50:1. I think it specifies the ratio on the gas cap on the trimmer, and I've got it to whatever that says. The engine exhaust from this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Today when I was trimming I noticed the exhaust started to get oil specs on it and on the plastic cover. I bought the 6 pack of stihl ultra HP oil to get an extra 2 years on the warranty. Second method: TO BE DONE OUTSIDE WITH EXTREME CARE. I bought a stihl FS56 about a month ago and today was my 5 fill of gas on the trimmer.
CLEAN EXHAUST PORT REDMAX TRIMMER DRIVER
Let it cool then beat on it with a heavy screw driver then blow out with air. When you turn it over, you then have to choke the machine to get it to start again. I took it apart and found that the piston and cylinder both look perfect.

If it starts, it only runs for a few seconds and dies. Needless to say, it is nearly impossible to start. When you turn the machine upside down, the tube stays put, high and dry out of the fuel mix. Im working on a RedMax string trimmer with compression of only 70psi. First method: Hang the muffler on a length of mechanics wire and heat up with a propane or oxy/acet torch. Your fuel pickup tube, with the fuel filter on it, could be stuck in the corner of the fuel tank.

I think this oil is Weed Eater brand synthetic oil. Fill the tank up with fresh unleaded fuel. Either way, remove the muffler first and clean exhaust port in block taking care not to rough up the piston. There are (100) parts used by this model. I only buy oil in the small pint bottles or whatever they sell at the big stores in the garden section. JavaScript Disabled - Unable to show Cart. This is the only 2-cycle equipment I have, so I don't use much oil.
